As upheaval shook the Middle East and North Africa in 2011, Human Rights Watch was at the forefront of efforts to document abuses and shape international responses, working hand in hand with local activists leading the push for historic reforms. We pursue the same approach globally, often with activists who work at great personal risk to bring abuses to light. On November 9, we will honour two such individuals, Hossam Bahgat from Egypt and Elena Milashinafrom Russia, for their unwavering, fearless commitment to human rights. Please join Human Rights Watch as we present them with our highest honour, The Alison Des Forges Award for Extraordinary Activism.
6:30 PM Reception – 7:30 PM Programme and Dinner . Featuring an exclusive performance by violinist Charlie Siem, one of the UK’s brightest new classical stars, and an exhibition and sale of photographs representative of Human Rights Watch’s work around the world. For more information, contact HRW Development and Outreach team on 020 7713 2773 or londonoutreach@hrw.org.
